Oh. My. Goodness. Carsten is ONE! *Warning: Baby Spam Ahead!*
So many thoughts that I am thinking and emotions that I am feeling about this sweet boy turning one and being a mom for one whole year. That post will be coming soon! For now, I wanted to share some pictures of him celebrating his first birthday!
We decided to keep it small. Well…I decided. If it were up to Craig, our house would have been filled with people he met at the grocery store. We only had our immediate family and a couple of friends over for the celebration and that was plenty enough.
I didn’t do the “theme” thing with the party decorations. Instead, I used this pack of craft paper for most of the do-it-yourself decor. I found this book of paper for $5.99 at TJMaxx and for anyone who has ever bought craft paper…they know that this is a great deal!
I created a milestone wall to showcase his monthly pictures and to share when his major milestones occurred (1st smile, 1st tooth, 1st steps…ect.).
How hilarious are these funny face cupcake toppers?
He’s getting good at the whole opening presents deal.
That face = heart melting.
The kiddos enjoyed the homemade ball pit. We bought the blow up pool after last years summer season for $6 and just added the balls!
I made the cupcakes and the cake myself. They may not be as pretty as the bakery, but they tasted great and they were made with lots of love!
I also made all the garland on the backdrop wall using the craft paper, yarn, paper straws, and a little crepe ribbon.
It looks like a lot of work…and it kinda was…but I dig this stuff!
His one year stat board took me the longest to make.
I tried to get a picture of him sitting next to it, but we all can see how that worked out. Haha!
Of course I had to make his royal highness a special birthday crown, because this dude definitely rules this castle!
I think he was telling me is done here…
Finally came smash cake time! For those of you who are wondering what a “smash cake is,” it is giving the baby free reign to do as he pleases to the cake.
“I’m one!” He really wasn’t telling us that…he always has that pointer finger out and ready to go.
He’s never had cake before so he had no idea what to do with it, but it was still fun!
So much fun celebrating this boys first year of life and we are looking forward to so many more years to come!
Thank you so much for visiting!
