We moved! Err…6 months ago. I know…I’m so on top of my game.
I’ve had a few…okay…a “couple” of you ask to see the new crib so here you go!
I think this home is considered to be a Craftsman Cottage style. Perhaps not the “cottage” that you are familiar with, but for this neighborhood, it is quiet small. Actually, I’m pretty sure it’s the smallest home here. I do love that we downsized by about 1500sq feet.
While the interior design aspects of this home are not quite my style, I am in love with the exterior.
Pretty much everything about it makes me smile. From the garage doors to the rock work.
It sits nestled on a tiny mountain in north Georgia. It doesn’t have much of a yard, which was a major downfall in my book. No veggie garden for me. The good thing about a smaller yard is that it is much more manageable.
Let’s head on in!
As you enter the front door, you walk right into an open floor plan which I LOVE. It is a small area all together, but it is quite perfect for us! Can we just talk about all of those windows? It is so bright all of the time and it makes it feel like you are always outside.
Walking on in to the left is the kitchen and dining area. There is no formal dining room. This is where things kind of go downhill…and please don’t take me wrong. I do LOVE this house, but the finishes just are not my style. (Even though I don’t really even know my style!) I know that I must sound like a brat right now.
I would love to paint those cabinets grey. I just feel like it’s sooooo much wood. What do you think? I do like the color of the island. Those light fixtures…gotta go. Of course, they probably won’t go anytime soon though. It’s hard for me to replace things that aren’t “broken”. You know what I mean? I don’t know. Maybe if we when the lotto!
There is a nice sized pantry behind those white double doors.
To the right is the living area. I don’t think that I would have chosen the rock fireplace, but I have really grown to love it. It definitely adds to the cottage type feel. I do like the whole set up with the shelves and cabinets on both sides. Have you noticed the beams? Pretty! The arched ceilings help open up the small space.
So, the next few pictures that I am sharing with you kind of explain why we truly fell in love with this house.
Our back yard is a national park. Pretty flipping amazing right?
While we are out here let’s look at the back deck.
As you can see, it extends from our living area to the other side of the dining area which is our where our master is located.
Are you loving the ceiling?
Me tooooooo!
Okay, let’s head back in…
The nursery and office is located to the right of the living area (as you come into the door).
The office…
There is a powder room between the office and nursery…
The nursery…
This is where the layout becomes confusing to me. The nursery is sooo teeny tiny, because it has it’s own teeny tiny bathroom.
This picture puts me into stone overload…
I would rather have had only one bathroom and a larger bedroom, but oh well!
Heading to the other side of the living area, there is a hallway leading to the laundry room, garage, and master.
Laundry room is small, but it is right across from the master. No more lugging laundry up and down stairs! Hooray!
That’s okay though…the hubs got us a spa since we don’t have tub to soak in!
This little screened in porch is attached to the master.
I haven’t really figured out how to use this space yet. Ideas welcome!
This completes the upper level of our home. Now let’s head downstairs to the terrace level…also known as the hubby’s “space”.
Directly to the right of the stairwell there is a storage area.
Okay…as you can see, the terrace level has the exact same layout as the upstairs…
Instead of another kitchen, there is an entertaining area…aka…a bar…There are also two tiny bedrooms with the tiny bathrooms…
The previous owners took all of the bathroom mirrors except for one!
We have already painted these rooms…
I mean…why in the world would someone want FIVE toilets to clean?
There is also another deck which mimics the one upstairs. Considering we don’t have a “back yard” to enjoy, I am loving these two decks.
So, that’s it! Our little mountain house that we are slowly making into our home. It is a very casual and organic space. It sort of feels like a tree house with all of the windows and trees that we see.
I do hope you enjoyed taking a peak inside. I love looking at other people’s homes!! (Not in the weird…stalker way 😉 If you would like, I would love to slowly show you guys how we are using the space in ways that best suits our family.
In the meantime, I am going to get back to chasing around my little 8 month old baby boy!
Hope you all have a beautiful day and thank you so much for visiting!
P.S. I love to add fun little updates on my Instagram account, so come find me @luchandler!

Wow, Luisa! Your new home is beautiful and what an amazing view. You mentioned not liking all the wood in the kitchen. Once you add curtains, rugs and accessories it may change your mind. Keep us updated on the changes.

Thank you for the tips Sherry! I guess I’m just used to the white cabinets that I used to have and it feels so weird to have wood cabinets now.
It’s beautiful!!! I love it all! What gorgeous views too. We recently painted our kitchen cabinets and it wasn’t nearly as hard as I anticipated. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you and thanks for the encouragement!
It’s GORGEOUS Luisa! I can see how not having a formal dining room and too many toilets can get to be annoying but seriously, the curb appeal and THAT VIEW!!!!! It’s to die for! Thanks so much for sharing! I’d love to see future posts on how you’ve decorated it and made it into a home for your little family. Thanks so much for sharing!

Thank you Jesse! I actually don’t mind not having a formal dining room. It is one less room to clean so that I can have more time to clean the toilets…haha!
Do you know of anywhere that I can find the house plan to this home? Or locate the builder possibly?
Hi Tabatha! I’m sure that the builder has the house plan and you can find him at http://stevekarleconstruction.com/
This is gorgeous! I’m loving your blog 😉
Hugs, Jamie
Thank you so much for visiting Jamie and for taking the time to leave your sweet comment. I am a big fan of your blog too!
What is the exterior paint color? I love it!
Do you know what house plan this is or who the architect is? We are in the process of selecting home plans and I love this exterior and design.
I am really interested in the exterior paint colors and the stone. Do you happen to know what they are? I can contact your builder, but would need a little information from you to narrow it down.
Thanks,
Ginger
