Okay. Glad I got that out.
6 months you guys.
The transformation that happens in 6 short months is truly astounding.
This dude keeps me so busy. I can only imagine what is to come once he becomes mobile. Sometimes, when I’m sitting around clocking my one millionth minute breastfeeding, I think about the one billion things that needs to be done. Then, I think about how darn lucky I am to be able to spend so much time with him. As I am running around trying to get things done while he is napping, I remind myself that this is all part of it. As I am squeezing in some gym time and then rushing back home before it is feeding time, I remember that he will only be this small once…he will only be 6 months old for one month. As exhausting as it is to entertain him all day long…I wouldn’t trade my time with him for anything!
Let’s see what he is up to these days!
*A miracle has happened…he is FINALLY sleeping through the night. Hallelujah! (Why am I still tired?)
At our 4 month appointment, I told his doctor that he was still waking up every 2 hours. She suggested we start him on cereal. I protested, but Craig insisted that we give it a shot and guess what? It worked. Not only am I getting sleep, but HE is also getting some good rest.
Now if only we could figure out how to make him go to sleep before 11pm…
*He has two bottom teeth making their way out! You can barely see them in the pic below, but they are there.
*So far he has has the opportunity to enjoy carrots, yellow squash, zucchini, sweet potato, avocado, and banana. I was gifted a Cuisinart Baby which steams and purees, so I have been making all of his food. It’s super easy! He loves this little mesh feeder…
*He went on his first plane ride. We got lucky and he slept during the first flight, but then things got interesting on the return trip. He was not sleepy and it did not take him long to get bored. We figured it out though and we all survived.
*He has had his first trip to the beach and he loves his pool time!
It’s only a matter of time!! I am in no way remotely ready for this. In fact, when I see him climb up on his knees…I may or may not tip him over.
He has become quiet the mama’s boy. It seems that I am the only one that can calm him down and sometimes he just isn’t happy until he is in mama’s arms. I am hoping that this is all a phase. I try to give him lots of daddy, nana, and grandma time and anytime there is someone around I try to hand him over. He is beginning to learn how to reach right now.
I do love my snuggles…
Don’t get me wrong! He sure does love his crazy daddy!
Carsten has also totally said “mama”. Well…it was more like “mmmmamamamama”. I’ll take it!
We are still nursing, but I’m afraid that this journey may be coming to an end soon. I’ve been having a really hard time with clogged milk ducts for the last month and the pain, while tolerable, is starting to wear me down a bit. I’m so stubborn though, so for now, all I do is walk around all day long complaining about how much my boobs hurt.
Overall, I have to say that he is a pretty happy baby. He’s had a couple of recent public meltdowns. There is a Mexican restaurant that we have taken him to twice and both times he showed out. Then, I had the bright idea to take him to my chiropractor appointment. Let’s just say that I learned my lesson.
He always gets compliments about his big brown eyes…
I have no idea how much he weighs or how long he is. Our 6 month appointment is next week. He’s still a skinny little thing despite my failing efforts to fatten him up. He wears 6 month jammies, but he is pretty much still wearing his 3 month clothes!
Okay mom, enough pics…
So, that’s what’s up with my little munchkin. I still think of him as my tiny little baby…until I see an actual newborn. I almost forgot about that stage already. Thank goodness for lots of pictures and blogs and journals!
Thanks so much for visiting!
