Musings From A New Mom

*Warning:  There are a lot of “boobie” references in this post.”

*This “mommy” gig is no joke.

baby needs

Repeat one million times.

*Nursing is also no joke.

breastfeeding joke*Thinks it is hilarious the way Carstens head looks like a bobble head on a go-cart missing a wheel when he is searching for his source of food.

*I also think it’s pitiful…bless him.

*Wonders how he knows to poop…right after I change his diaper.

*I also wonder how he knows to wake up…as soon as I fall asleep.

*Pretty sure my breast pump talks to me in the middle of the night.

*Hoping that one piece bathing suits are all the rage this summer.

*Thinks one thousand baby smooches a day are still not enough.

*Thinks health insurance should pay for weekly massages for breast feeding moms.

*Wonders if there is anything that I CAN eat that WON’T give him gas…poor fella.

*Thinks it’s super cute when he toots in his sleep.  Not so much when the hubby does the same.

*Thankful for my husband…he surprises me daily with his awesomeness.

*Thinking about changing his name to “Boobie Terrorist”. (The baby, not my husband.)

*Not sure why I even bother putting on a shirt every day.

*Still bewildered that God entrusted a tiny person to me.

*Thinks it is crazy that his life literally depends on me.  Ohhh…no big deal.

*Can’t remember what it feels like to have a pregnant belly, so I made a little display in the nursery using some of my baby bump pics I shared on Instagram.

*Sometimes secretly wishes him back inside my belly…when it was waaay easier.  Then, I wish I could karate chop myself in the throat for thinking such thoughts.

*Ready to get my squats on.

*Not sure which one I am obsessed with more…his smell or his itty bitty feet.

baby feet

*Am pretty sure I am too old to have babies.  My body curses me every day.

*Trying to stop saying, “I can’t wait until…” and really enjoy the now.

*Hopes he grows to love the Lord.

*Hopes he loves me as much as I love him.

I have a funny story to tell.  We had his first doctors appointment the day after we came home from the hospital.  It also happened to be the day after I almost starved him due to my milk not coming in.  He cried all night long and all that morning.  We get to the doctors office and I tell Craig to run in and fill out paperwork while I attempt to nurse him again.  I give it about 5 minutes and he settles down.  I bundle him up in a blanket and make my way inside.  I get halfway to the elevator when I think…”Oh…crap.  Did I pull my shirt back down?”  The answer my friends…is no.  No I did not pull my shirt back down after nursing.

I hope that you enjoyed the first installment of Confessions from a Frazzled New Mom.

I totally sympathize with you on the no sleep thing. It’s tough, but it does get better. :) I’m cracking up at how you forgot to pull your shirt back down. Lol! There were days when my boys were infants that I wore my shirt inside out AND backwards all day long and never noticed. :)

I find it is best to find the humor in some situations and just roll with the flow. As embarrassing as it was at the time…I still laughed at myself! I’m sure there will be many more ‘fun’ memories down the road. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences too!

Yay yay yay yay!!! I left you a sappy congrats message through FB, but not sure if you got it and I am trying desperately to get caught up on my email now that I have my new computer up and running! I am SO excited for you! Your sweet baby boy is adorable! I know the feeling of having your shirt up around your neck half the day. I still can’t believe I whipped it out right at the dinner table in front of my then 8 year old lol. Hey baby’s gotta eat! I know you’re sleep deprived and all, but this part will be over before you know it, I promise :) I’m so excited to follow along as he grows! He’s gorgeous!XOXO

Ohh … he’s so sweet! Isn’t he just the most wonderful thing to happen to you and Craig? I remember feeling the same way, God entrusted ME … US with what is clearly the most precious baby ever born, save Jesus. How could he possibly think we were ready, or capable? Yet, nearly 24 years later we still sometimes pinch ourselves and say, “Is he real? Is he really OUR son … the greatest kid in the world just happens to be OUR son.” 😀 You’ll be great, Luisa. You are already showing all the signs of a great mom … all the care, the concern, the love. And yes, your precious little one will grow to love you just as much as you love him. And yes, he will love the Lord as you do.

I remember those early days, so broke, no support, no help, no clue what I was doing. Out in our little house in the woods, no family, no friends to offer a hand — my husband having to take our only car 12 hours a day for school and work. I was terrified. I clung to the little love seat in the living room. It was my safety zone. I only put him down to take pictures or let him take a nap. Otherwise, he was in my arms. :) But God was with us, and in a couple of weeks I was no longer fretting that I wasn’t capable, I would fail … I was confident and feeling like the greatest mom in the world. And he has always told me that. From his pre-school days to now.

Dear Luisa, your adventure is just beginning. Don’t worry, don’t fret. Look to God for guidance and enjoy each step of the way. :)

Oh my gosh Pam! Thank you so very much for this sweet and encouraging message! It sounds like you are a strong, strong woman and your life’s events seem to have made you even stronger! So far, 2 months later, we are surviving! It has been quiet the roller coaster ride already, but overall, it has been simply fantastic!

I found your blog from Casey’s linkup… I LOVE this post. My little man is 1 (it flies by), but I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said!

    -Bobble-head rooting is the best.

    -Their smell is intoxicating.

-Your body eventually just gets used to all the weird nursing positions. My chiropractor knew I was breastfeeding without me telling him because of how out of whack my neck is/was from it! haha

-I LOVE the instagrams you hung up on your wall. Genius. I look back at pictures of my belly and can hardly remember it!

I don’t even know you and I’m still so excited for your journey in motherhood. It’s the best!
