Last month was a blur. We spent more days traveling then we did at home. We flew out to Portland, Oregon to visit some friends.
P.S. It’s a wonderful city…I would definitely recommend a visit!
One week later, I tagged along with the hubs to West Palm, Florida. He had some business meetings and we have friends down there, so it was another great opportunity to visit more friends!
P.S. The friend in Florida also happens to be the twin sister to the friend in Oregon.
One week later, we attended a wedding in Harrisburg, PA. We have this goal to visit all 50 states and so we flew into Baltimore, Maryland…drove to PA…then, after the wedding…we thought it would be fun to visit Richmond, VA.
P.S. That last sentence has to be the worst run-on sentence ever.
Long story short…we were a tad disappointed in Richmond. We both love to visit historical cities, but we were just unable to connect with this city.
P.S. I’m sure that it had nothing to do with the fact that we were both completely exhausted from traveling and we both just wanted to be home.
Back to the B&B…do you guys love staying at B&Bs? We adore them. We stayed at Maury Place in Richmond and it was BEE-YOO-TEE-FUL! So darn gorgeous that I have to share it with you. If you love historical homes…then I think that you will enjoy the following pics!
Welcome to Maury Place!
Do you love the color of this ceiling?
I couldn’t believe what I saw when I stepped through that front door. The architectural detail in this home is quiet impressive.
The sweet owner, Jeff, greeted us at the door. He even had a personalized plate set up to greet us.
The dining room where we were served breakfast. The chandy is original to this 1916 home.
Next door to the dining room is the kitchenette. Here is where we found complimentary wine, coffee, and snacks.
More amazing molding…
Next up is the library??? Not sure. Just know that it has an amazing ceiling!
Next to the library is a sitting room with another amazing ceiling and of course there was a fireplace in every single room.
The owner chose a lot of dark colors, but it only makes the trim pop that much more.
Craig talking to the owner about the chandy…because you know…he knows so much about them.
Let’s head up to our room! Maury Place has only 4 bedrooms making it the smallest bed and breakfast that we have ever stayed at.
Yeah…that was one side of our room. Kind of crazy huh? I’m only showing a peek of the other side because I was too lazy to make the bed.
Terrible pic…but I hope you caught the molding. Now onto my favorite part…the bathroom! I mean really…who gets excited over bathrooms?
The chandy, the colors, the tile, the tub. Love it all.
Jeff really made this place welcoming for his guests.
Not sure, but I think these knobs are original.
There was a fantastic deck off of our room.
Down this hall were the other rooms.
There is also a nice courtyard with a pool, but it was already closed for the season.
If you are in the area, Maury Place is a great place to stay. It really was lovely and clean and welcoming. Jeff’s hospitality was well appreciated.
Visit Maury Place for more information.
Hope you enjoyed the tour! Wishing you all a fantastic day!

Don’t you love it when you accidentally hit “Publish” instead of “Save Draft”? Oh well…
Absolutely stunning! I would love to live there!! Visiting from THE SCOOP #94
I would be too scared that I would ruin it! We have so many scratches and dents in our walls. Maybe…I could pad the walls??? ha!
Wow! I absolutely adore everything about that B&B. The architectural detail is amazing. I love historical homes! I’ve never actually stayed at a B&B before, but I’ve always wanted to.
PS – Thank you for visiting my blog and commenting! Have a great day
Oh…your welcome Tammy and I thank you too! B&B’s are very quaint and romantic. I would definitely recommend them
Beautiful! I’ve never stayed at a B&B and now I’m thinking it’s a must try!
Yes you should Kelly!
[…] We love historical cities and thought this one would be right up our alley. I shared this trip here. I’m not sure if we were just exhausted from all of the traveling, but we really just did […]
That’s a beautiful place, Luisa. So very elegant, without being too stuffy. I love the library, and the room you stayed in. Sounds like you’ve stayed in a lot of B & B’s. I actually never have! I always wanted to, but just haven’t gotten ’round tuit’ it. Haha. Say, have you ever stayed in a particularly nice place in Tennessee or North Carolina? I would love to hear your recommendation if you have. Thanks for sharing this.
Hi Pam! I love the intamacy of B&Bs. You get to meet and interact with new people. I’m not even a very social person…but I still like it. I have been to one in Asheville, NC and another one somewhere in the mountains of Tennessee. I can’t rememer the names of them though.
