Gender Reveal Party

Hello beautiful people!!  How much are you all enjoying this awesome fall weather?  So sad that it is so short lived, but then we probably would not appreciate it as much would we?

I had an amazing weekend and really want to share it with you!  Craig and I had our gender reveal party this past Saturday and it was everything that I hoped it would be.

A gender reveal party is a party the expecting parents throw to reveal the gender of their baby.

There are a ton of great ideas out there on the wonder web and I had a blast planning for the shindig.  Considering it is fall time, I decided to go with an owl theme and leaned toward the colors orange and teal.  We were shooting for a laid back evening where our family and friends could just hang out, eat, mingle, and celebrate with us.

I had a ton of fun with all of the DIY aspects of the party planning.  What can I say…

crafting makes me happy

One of my guests even commented…”She’s that girl who actually does what she pins.”  Haha!  It’s true…it’s true.

As I welcomed guests into my home, I sent them on over to the voting center.  I made little boy and girl owl pins for them all to wear.

Girl won by a long shot!

Girl won by a long shot!

I hung up a little baby gender prediction fun.

I also had to share some little fun facts about Baby Chandler…

I set up some appetizers and desserts on the dining room buffet.  (Special thanks to my sweet sister for helping me prepare the food…wouldn’t have made it without her!)

It consisted of:

Caprese skewers, fresh fruit, veggie cups with ranch or hummus, chocolate dipped pretzel sticks, and some mini desserts that I ordered from Publix.

I’m pretty sure this cuteness is going to end up in the nursery.

For the main course, I slaved over a hot stove alllll day long.

I kid…I kid.

Actually, we ordered food from Carrabas.  Let me tell you, it was a hit!  We ordered 2 pans of lasagna and 2 pans of pasta carrabas (chicken alfredo).  It came with their amazing bread and their herbed olive oil dipping sauce.  It also came with their house salad and dressing.  They provided us with plates, utensils, napkins, and cups.  I would absolutely order catering from them again!  It saved me a ton of time and probably even money.  We had plenty of food for over 30 people and then some.  Wish I would have gotten a picture of its amazingness.

After letting dinner settle for a bit, it was time for the gender reveal!

We chose to go with revealing the gender by cutting into a cake that was either dyed blue or pink on the inside.  This is nothing creative, but it ended up being perfect for us.

It's a boy!

It’s a boy!

We also decided to reveal our baby boys name.

It was a close call…we almost named him Chin Chan Chandler.

Alexander is Craig’s middle name and I’ve always loved it, but felt that the name “Alexander Chandler” was just too long.  We randomly came across the name Carsten and I fell in love with it immediately.  It took Craig a little longer to warm up to it, but now, he loves it too!  Carsten actually stands for “follower of Christ” in German and we pray daily that he will become that soon in his life.

So glad we captured this on video for those who were unable to make it to the party…

How fun was that?!

Another little project that I shared on Instagram included the party favors.  I found some super cute printables on The 36th Avenue blog and went at it!  They are mason jars filled with homemade pumpkin chocolate chip cookies with the recipe attached to the jar.

I have already expressed our overwhelming gratitude all over facebook for those who have been celebrating this special time with us.  It’s really been an amazing time and we have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.  Thank you again to all of our friends and family!

That’s it!  Thanks so much for visiting!

P.S.  I made all of the prints and the banner using PicMonkey!

Do you have any tips on how to get listed in Yahoo News?
I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there!
