Pregnancy

12 Weeks

10 week ultrasound

Oh yes…this is happening.

Sharing my experience with pregnancy with the whole wide web.  Lucky you.

There will be no weekly posts, rather one post every four weeks.  That isn’t too annoying is it?  I suppose the main reason I want to share this experience is because I have enjoyed reading about others pregnancy as well as conversing with others about their experience.  Maybe…if you’re a prego…you’re interested too.

If this is of no interest to you whatsoever…I totally understand and that is okay.  No feelings hurt here as I was once you.

So, let’s get to this sharing business!

First off, you should know that I was never that person who wanted to have children and raise a family.  There were many reasons why.  Shamefully admitting selfishness was one reason.  Other reasons ran along the lines of an overpopulated world, too much evil in the world, fear, yada yada.

Being 31 years of age with a couple years of marriage under my belt, it’s only natural that people begin to ask “when are the babies arriving”?  With a quick reply of, “Who knows?”, I then change the subject.

Then…the hubby started asking me the question.  *Please note that he was well aware of my feelings about having children prior to marriage.*  To him I answered, “Well, let’s pray about it.”

Well folks…that is pretty much the end of the story.  God clearly has a plan for us to have a family.

How do I feel about that?  So scared at first…I literally cried from fear.  These feelings were quickly dissolved by my Father’s comfort.  Now, excitement feels our home as we scramble around trying to finish up some much needed projects to prepare for this this munchkin.

We found out we were expecting at 4 weeks.  Crazy early right?  It was one of the weirdest days ever…the day after Memorial Day.  I woke up feeling fine.  I had to bring Craig to pick up his truck that he left at the lake.  On my way back home…I began to get really nauseous.  This isn’t abnormal as I often get motion sickness…it’s so annoying.  This time was different though.  I was also feeling lightheaded.  I got home and ended up taking a nap…for 3 hours.  I woke up feeling the same.  I knew exactly what was the matter.  I made the call to the hubby.  “Please pick up a pregnancy test on your way home.”   He came home and made me take the test immediately.

Pregnant.

I cannot even express what went through my head or what I was feeling when I saw that word.  I think I may have been so overwhelmed that I went blank.

Craig was so excited that he started experiencing word scramble.  Nothing that came out of his mouth made any sense.

I realize that this may not be a big deal to some.  There is probably a baby born every second of every day.  Isn’t that crazy?  Look around.  You will always see a pregnant person, a baby, or a family of five.  They are everywhere and they are all the same.

No they aren’t.

Each one of those babies are a gift from God and they each have their own precious soul.  Each one has a story and then, when you have one being formed inside of your own body…it’s an all new ballgame.

So, how has the first 12 weeks been?  Despite the occasional wave of nausea that crossed my path on a daily basis, I never had true morning sickness.  Praise God!  Fatigue was an issue.  Some days I would sleep…all…day…long.  I think I am pretty much over that hump.  I guess this whole baby making thing takes a toll on the body.

Although I had food aversions to pretty much everything healthy (except fruit), I haven’t had any cravings.  Craig seems to think I should be craving some sort of dessert every single night…

No weight gain, but definitely wider around the waist.

Mood has been fine, but hormones are going crazy.  I see it every day when I look in the mirror.  You can totally play connect the dots on my face.  Yay.

Working out has been quiet the task.  I think mostly because I took some time off during my lazy spell.  I get winded a lot easier than usual.  It’s a little difficult to do a Crossfit wod without pushing yourself to the max.  No more max reps.  Lots of breaks.  Peed my pants a little doing double unders…

Craig and I began a devotional together.

Devotional for expecting parents

It is really written for the mother, but Craig and I have been reading it together and it has been awesome.  I would absolutely recommend  it.

So, I suppose that is all for now.  Here is Baby Chandler at 1o weeks…

10 week ultrasound

The little munchkin is waving to us.

I also have to share this video of us announcing the pregnancy to my mother.  Please watch it.  The excitement on her face tells it all.

Do you have any 12 week stories to share?

Thanks for visiting!!

Your moms reaction was priceless! I’ve had my two and I am done, but I still like to hear about other’s stories. Being pregnant is an amazing time in your life and you should want to shout it from the rooftops! Maybe it was the baby chickens that changed your mind??? Lol! Congratulations! :)

I am so excited for you and Craig, Lu! The other day after I left the gym and seeing you guys I could not stop thinking about it!! Babies are a gift from God, they are the most innocent beings put on this Earth (next to puppies & kittens). I have NO DOUBTS that it is going to be such a cutie pie sharing traits from mommy and daddy!! Until then a little sweating is good for the little one, cannot wait to watch you in the gym as you continue on this journey!! So happy for you guys! :) So what did Lindsay name it? Cruisa??

So happy for you both!! With both my daughter’s the only food cravings I had was fruit. It didn’t matter what fruit it was as long as it was fruit. Tammy looks so excited! Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed reading it all.
