Hola! How are you wonderful people doing? Hopefully super duper! I have been a busy bee! Before I share with you how I made these easy outdoor candle holders, I must boast a bit. I have to announce that EVERY single room & closet in my house is…are you ready for this? Not sure you can handle it…
CLEAN!!!! Amazing right? Aside from the sunroom (which has been under construction for a year and a half) and the basement (a whole other house next on the list), the house is clean. You may not be impressed much, but I sure am! I just really felt the need to declutter this place. It is crazy how things add up. My bedroom closet is now half empty. I got rid of clothes that I’ve been hanging on to for 10 years…just in case. Cleaned out all the kitchen cabinets. Came across 5 different blenders…really? The pic below is every thing that I no longer want to be a part of my life…
I cleaned out every single closet…
How does all of that buildup even happen? I am so enjoying this while I can. The house will probably never look like this again…
Onto the project at hand. A few months ago I picked up these jars at Ikea for $3.99 a piece.
The original plan of use for these jars included herbs. Unfortunately, the herbs decided they did not like said original plan and ultimately committed suicide. So then, I got an idea while sitting on the back deck watching my sweet hubby grill up some dinner. My hubby is super sweet. So sweet that all of the bugs migrate to him to get a little taste. (Isn’t that weird? After 10 minutes, he has 10 bug bites and I have 0.) He needs protection from those big, bad bugs! So, I decided to turn the jars into outdoor candler holders and this is how it all went down…
Ummm…yeah…so how easy was that? Crazy easy. A few tips for ya:
1. All supplies can be found at a craft store.
2. Pre-drill holes for hook screws.
3. Hang somewhere they won’t get wet or only hang when needed.
4. Embellish with cute ribbon or twine.
5. Use contained candle for easy switch out.
6. Keep moss and other flammable away from flame. Unplanned fires suck.
7. A plain jane jar can also be used and set on tabletop.
Take that Mr. Mosquito! Hubs loves the new candles. Are buggies attracted to you? How do you keep the bugs away? Do any of you have any experience with the mosquito repelling plants? Do they actually work?
Thanks so much for visiting! You guys are the bestest!

Wish I could say the same for my poor closets! The candleholders are so cute! Life to the full! Melissa
Thank you Melissa…who knows how long it will last.

These are just darling! Do the candles really work to keep the bugs away? I’ve never tried them.

Love these, so simple and so cute. Found you over at Give me the Goods link party. Thanks for sharing and linking up!
Thank you much!
Those candle holders are awesome! What a great way to decorate and keep bugs away at the same time!
Thank you Elise!
I love anything in a glass jar, and these are no exception. I especially like the textures you added with the stones and moss and clay pots. I need to put this on my already too long “to do” list.
Thank you Gail…Those jars sat on my counters for months before I actually made these 😛
These are adorable! What a great idea. Thank you so much for sharing at Give Me The Goods Monday!

Thanks for the party and thank you for stopping by!
What a cute idea! My husband and I are the reverse of you guys. The bugs love me and leave him alone!
I really wonder why that is…hmmm….
I NEED these! I’m the one with all of the bug bites normally and they don’t bother my husband. Your outdoor candleholders are beautiful!
Thanks so much for sharing at The Creative HomeAcre Hop! Looking forward to seeing what you share this week!
