May Blooms

Watch out guys!  This is an exciting post coming up…

I really didn’t have much bloom this month, but that’s okay.  The huge Rhododendron is my back yard didn’t bloom at all…which was weird.  Maybe I trimmed it last year and don’t remember?  Ah well…

I planted my first rose bush this spring.  It is supposed to be a climber, but so far it’s looking more like a bush.  We have another rose bush that has been hanging on for dear life since we moved in, but it hasn’t bloomed yet.

How pretty are these purple blooms on the Royal Empress trees.  So lovely at first…in a week or two they all start trying to take over the world…I meant yard.  There will be a war between these trees and the lawn mower until winter is here.

My sweet smelling Gardenia is up next.  I planted this in a pot last year and then we experienced a tragedy.

Not sure what happened here, but I was sure that it was a goner.

It surprised us all and battled through.  I think I shall call it Kitty.  Hopefully, we will not have to see if Kitty has any more lives to spare.

This Daylily needs to be separated badly…maybe next year.

I’m not really sure what this is, but I think it is wild.  It’s loaded with tons of blooms and has thorns.  Any guesses?

That is all that I have for now.  I will be sharing the status of the veggie garden next…the good, the bad, and the lucky.

What’s popping up in your yard right now?

Aren’t they Larry? They are just as gorgeous after they fall off producing a purple blanket on the ground.

Sometimes white blooms and thorns mean blackberries. You’ll know for sure if it sets fruit.

I will have to look up Royal Empress trees. Love the flowers but sounds like it goes beyond its boundaries.

It truly does! The purple blooms are gorgeous, but it grows soooo fast and the heavy seed pods often cause the branches to break…and…I have little trees popping up everywhere…EVERYWHERE!
