Whew! Where in the world did last week go? Sunday was Mother’s Day. Wednesday was the hub’s birthday. Surprised him with a little getaway Thursday through Saturday. Then, threw a shower for some good friends on Saturday night. Was supposed to go to a family dinner on Sunday, but I barely got out of bed. Maybe for a couple of potty trips. Maybe a couple of fridge trips. Okay, Craig may or may not have lured me out of bed with some popcorn…
Back to my sweet Craig’s birthday…when asked what he would like to do…his reply absolutely surprised me. “I’m going to take the day off and I want to go to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.”
Huh.
I LOVE that man!!! After twisting my arm a bit…yeah right…off we went! We started off with brunch at The Flying Biscuit, an Atlanta favorite. Yum! We then headed to the gardens which were only minutes away.
The gardens have several sections and thankfully provide a map.
P.S. If you are ever able to visit, plan to wear comfy shoes. Not heels…not even wedges…or you may be in tears by the end of your trip…don’t ask me how I know this.
Alrighty, let’s get on to the one million pictures! (Note to self: go in early morning or late evening in order to get better pics.) Starting with the current exhibition of Imaginary Worlds where they take hundreds of plants to make one big sculpture.
The butterfly.
Berries.
The Cobras.
The Scraggly Dog.
The fish fountain.
Froggy.
Some sort of ogre?
Rabbit.
The unicorn.
Last, but not least, the Goddess.
Pretty neat huh?
This picture was taken from within the canopy where there were tons of huge beautiful trees.
Poor deer.
Check out the size of leaf on this oakleaf hydrangea!
Most definitely going back to see the tons of hydrangeas in bloom!
Seriously? Who’s plants are this green and perfect?
Lots and lots of flowers to be explored.
There was a huge rose garden…
and interesting sculptures.
A frog pond full of huge frogs…can you see one?
Huge frogs and huge tadpoles. Funny story about the frog pond. As I was leaning over and concentrating on taking this photo, Craig suddenly yells, “Oh my gosh, look out!” At the same time I feel the sunglasses, that I attached to my belt, move. I start screaming (in this nice quiet garden) and jumping thinking that a frog has jumped on me. Everyone that is relaxing on the benches turn to see where the commotion is coming from. Turned out to be this…
a 10 inch lizard only a few inches from my feet. Not sure which would be worse…
Oh look…more frogs.
Edible gardens. Can’t wait to see these by midsummer.
A formal garden with views of Atlanta in the background.
There was also a huge greenhouse full of amazing tropical plants.
A friendly reminder.
We had a fantastic time and would recommend the gardens to everyone. If you can’t visit anytime soon then I hope that you’ve enjoyed the gardens from our eyes.
Have any of you ever been? Any other fantastic gardens that you would recommend?
Did anyone else watch the Billboard Awards Sunday night? Man…I should’ve taken notes…would have made an entertaining blog post.
Thank you so much for visiting!
I often share with these amazing peeps…
