Fall

Fallified Mantle

29 September, 2012
Mantle shmantle.
Took me a good week to achieve contentment with my fall mantle.
A week.
Started with this one.

Colors were a little bright.
Just wasn’t quiet right.
So…I decided to tone down the colors.
Switched out the orange pea thingies for the pine cone twig thingies.
Took away the leaf topiaries.
I liked it…
…but not enough.

Decided to head to Hobby Lobby to see if I could find a larger frame…
…but then had another idea…

CANVAS FUN!
CRAFT PAPER FUN!!
MOD PODGE FUN!!!

I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A TEACHER!

I DON’T KNOW WHY I AM SCREAMING!

I decided to try my hand at making my own artwork.
Picture

Picked out my favorite craft paper designs.
Fun part was planning the layout.

Final decision.

Oh what!?!
I flippin love it!
Seriously, can’t even believe how great it looks…well…to me anyway.
Craig likes it.
So does Bella.
It really fills up the empty space doesn’t it?
Also switched out the dark candles for lighter ones, and switched the books.

Then…I had another great idea.
BAM!
Check out the frames with more DIY artwork.
Man, I’m on a roll.
Man, my fireplace is sooo dirty.

Thanks for the confirmation Pat! I totally agree :-)

You are very clever to whip up that art! I vote for no frame. I think it will be too heavy over your other pretty decorations on the mantle. Linda

Found you through Tip Junkie; I loved seeing your creative process through your images and the ever-growing mantle display. Love your collage of scrapbook paper. And if you add a frame, I wouldn’t do a conventional one. Maybe a ruffled one out of burlap? But it’s great as is!
